Kinvara’s music scene is thriving, thanks to Ben McCormack and his Poppy Lane Sessions, an intimate venue showcasing the best of emerging and established Irish talent. What started as a passion project has quickly become a must-visit spot for music lovers in the West of Ireland.
McCormack created the Poppy Lane Sessions in his home to offer a unique, up-close experience for both artists and audiences. "I wanted to create a space where people could really connect with the music," he shared. "It’s not just about the performance, but about fostering a deep appreciation for the artistry." The carefully curated lineup features a mix of folk, rap, and experimental sounds, all performed in a cozy, atmospheric setting. Beyond the music, the sessions have also fostered a strong sense of community, supporting local businesses and providing a creative hub for Kinvara.
McCormack and his wife Jenny have beautiful memories that keep them motivated. "There’s so much talent in Ireland that deserves a spotlight," he said. "We’re always looking for fresh ways to bring artists and audiences together." With a plan to get more music instruments, the future of Poppy Lane Sessions looks bright.
This morning, McCormack joins Islammiyah Saudique-Kadejo on the Breakfast Show. Listen to the full interview below. Enjoy, and remember to share.
